The International Transport and Logistics Fair aims to boost the recovery of the sustainable development of transport, improve the coverage and quality of services, and advance the country's insertion in the international market.
The inauguration of the event, which will take place until tomorrow, was attended yesterday by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, together with Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister. At the opening, according to Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, more than 120 exhibiting entities and 600 participants from all forms of business management are present.
"Sustainable mobility of passengers and cargo, the modernization of different infrastructures, the use of renewable energy and the efficiency of supply chains are high priority issues for the country," he said.
He pointed out that a Forum on international cooperation will be organized at the Fair with the participation of various agencies, in which a new program for the resilient and low-carbon development of transportation in Cuba will be presented.
The Fair will serve to present the sector's development priorities and foreign investment, airport infrastructure and air activity, rail and automotive transport, as well as the potential of logistics in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
Antonio Carricarte Corona, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, stressed that it is not possible to talk about the growth of a nation if it is not done, at the same time, of transportation and logistics, the latter with an impact on the way in which the country is inserted in international trade.
