
With the incentive that this 12th Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC) has been a space to evaluate the work done and establish new projections, the Cuban youth gains certainty that the great challenge is to build a future similar to themselves.
On the closing day, which was attended by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, the urgency of creating spaces for young people to expose and exchange ideas, and include various sectors in this process, stood out.
The Head of State urged to strengthen social communication, digital transformation and science and innovation, three pillars in government management, and seek solutions from knowledge, especially in these times of economic pressure.
He pointed out that the youth have in their hands the weapons of this battle for the truth of Cuba, and they are the ones who can best explain to their contemporaries why the revolution, why socialism, and also why the Young Communist model.
The nearly 400 delegates to the 12th Congress of the UJC elected Meyvis Estévez Echevarría as the first secretary of the National Committee of the Organization, while recognizing the role played by Aylín Álvarez García, who will assume new tasks in the Party.
Accompanying the young people in this plenary session were members of the Political Bureau, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, prime minister; and Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization, as well as the Commanders of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, vice prime minister, and Guillermo García Frías, and the Commander of the Rebel Army José Ramón Machado Ventura.
