The Cuban company Aerovaradero and the U.S. company CubaMax signed a contract for the provision of freight forwarding services. Through this document -explained to Granma Mayelín Gotera López, general director of the national entity-, CubaMax clients in the U.S. will be able to ship perishable goods by air.
These products are meat products with specifications regarding transportation and logistics, including the maintenance of the cold chain.
In the context of the 2nd  International Fair of Transport and Logistics (FITL 2024), Gotera Lopez stressed that Aerovaradero has refrigeration coolers to keep the cargo that transits, in addition, through all Customs and sanitary controls, in order to maintain the required safety standards.
He added that, for the time being, this type of cargo will only be distributed in Havana, and the process will be carried out by a micro, small and medium-sized company that has the means of transportation to maintain the cold. The transfer will be to the residence of the recipients.
He pointed out that, although the conditions are only created to operate in Havana, it is expected to be able to extend it to other provinces of the country, although he stressed that it is a process under study.
Before signing the contract, said the directive, a pilot test was carried out on the 3rd, and the cargo was dispatched the following day, without setbacks.
Aerovaradero has had a contract with Cubamax since July 2023, when its operations began and, due to the levels of cargo it ships monthly, it has become one of the Cuban entity's strategic partners.
