More than four million Cubans participated, this May 1st, in the rallies throughout the country, with which Cuba honored the International Workers' Day, a day that, in almost all the planet, is usually marked by confrontations and struggles for rights that have been a reality here for more than half a century.
The presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, venue of the central event for the day, in Havana, was an additional inspiration this 2024, when the nation is fighting a battle against economic distortions that have had in him, and in the unsurpassable example of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the most demanding defenders of the role of popular control and of the working force against this type of vital corrections for the nation.

Among the first to arrive was also the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who together with more than 200,000 other capital citizens fulfilled the Cuban tradition that the country's leaders must stand side by side with the people.
Havana's Malecon had a wave of people listening to the words of the General Secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (Cuban Workers' Central Union), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Party, on whose shoulders rest their trust not only the members of the organization on the island, but also thousands of comrades of solidarity all over the world.
The challenge ahead of the Cuban trade union movement is great, in view of the expansion of the country's economic actors and the situation it is going through, but its historical responsibility towards the working people is proof that, no matter how hard times may be, there will always be a will of resistance and struggle that will guarantee the Revolution for a long time to come.
