In order to advance issues of direct impact on the population, such as those that affect the reactivation of the productive capacities and the generation of foreign currency income to the country, activities were rearranged in the schedule of the implementation process of the measures to correct distortions and to boost the economy in 2024.
This was announced yesterday by Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau of the Party and Cuban Prime Minister, in a session of the Council of State.
Headed by the also member of the Political Bureau, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the Council of State, and with the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; in the session, the Prime Minister explained that there is a proposal of decisions focused on the Macroeconomic Stabilization Program; the incentive to national production, especially of food; the reduction of the fiscal deficit, and the organization of relations between economic actors, among other issues.
The members of the body adopted four new decree laws. Regarding the first of the issued normative provisions "Modifying Decree-Law 56 "Maternity of the Worker and the Responsibility of Families", dated October 13, 2021; the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó Cabrera, explained that the term for the enjoyment of the social benefit period is extended up to 15 months of the child's life and, consequently, the terms in the articles of the legal norm are updated.
In addition, the regulatory provisions "On the Special Social Security Regime for workers who are individually hired to work abroad", "On the Compensation Fund" and "On International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation" were presented. Each of the decrees approved will be published in due time in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
The results of the implementation of the 3rd Improvement of the National Education System were also discussed.
In addition, Homero Acosta Álvarez, Secretary of the Council of State, presented the results of the implementation of the structure and staffing of the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power, and the respective proposal for their improvement.
