Holguin.— To know the potentialities and tourist products marks the route followed by 300 tour operators from Spain and Portugal in a tour of part of the eastern region of Cuba, after being summoned to visit that geographical area, by DIT Gestión Group.
Jon Arriaga, president of that European entity, which operates with a considerable number of travel agencies of those nations, told Granma that in the tour of the city of Holguin and the coastal town of Gibara, the tour operators confirmed the authenticity of both places, in which their cultural value stands out.
In fair valuation of the Grand Memories Holguin hotel, in the Ramón de Antilla peninsula, he said that the installation of the Gaviota Group, managed by the BlueDiamond chain, is paradisiacal, as is the beach.
About the fishing villages in the area, he said that they offer a vision of Cuba in its interior, very different from the one you have when visiting Havana, because they reveal the natural life, so he said that this condition is the one that will enhance the sales efforts to be made in Europe.
The exploratory work on eastern soil, he said, will last until Friday, with tours to Baracoa, in Guantanamo, as well as several sites in the territory of Santiago de Cuba.
He explained that last year, in the central region of Cuba, DIT Gestión developed a similar event, which was successful, as confirmed by the two weekly flights during the summer of this year, to transport tourists from Spain to Santa Clara.
"It has been such a success, that next year, the flights will be four. In addition, the date has been extended. It will begin in March," he announced.
As part of the current meeting, at the Grand Memories Holguín hotel -with 860 rooms and the first one inaugurated in the emerging tourist pole of Ramón de Antilla - executives and commercial specialists from provincial delegations of the Ministry of Tourism and Cuban tourist chains presented products from their regions and interacted with foreign tour operators.
