The synchronization of the thermoelectric power plant (CTE) Antonio Guiteras, in Matanzas, after its unexpected shutdown yesterday due to a power failure, and of machine 3 of the CTE Antonio Maceo, in Santiago de Cuba, as well as the distribution of diesel fuel for distributed generation, project a greater availability of electricity for today.
This was stated to Granma by Lázaro Guerra Hernández, director of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, who acknowledged that it would not be possible to close the load early this morning, given the marked deficit in generation capacity.
He explained that, at the time of this report, Guiteras was already in line, delivering 150 megawatts (MW) and increasing power to 250 MW. Likewise, Renté 3 was delivering its load, which was about 54 MW.
Guerra Hernández projected that units 1 of CTE Ernesto Che Guevara de Santa Cruz and unit 5 of CTE Diez de Octubre de Nuevitas are expected to enter the system today. Both will deliver 70 MW to the National Electric System.
Yesterday was marked by a maximum deficit of about 1,800 megawatts, which was influenced by both the lack of fuel and the fact that important generating machines in the country were out of the system.
After the synchronization of Guiteras, Unit 1 of the Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant in Felton, which after 80 days on line, went out for a programmed maintenance of ten days, with the purpose of normalizing the operational parameters of the group.
