The significant weight of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Power Plant in the good health of the National Electric System (SEN) was endorsed in Cienfuegos, this Wednesday, during the visit made by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, Roberto Morales Ojeda.
The Head of State was interested in the progress made in the maintenance of blocks 3 and 4 of the energy enclave, the first of which should be incorporated in April, and the second between June and July, for a combined energy contribution to the country of more than 300 megawatts.
Maintenance work is proceeding according to plan, and the necessary material resources are available to carry it out, assured Juan Bravo Núñez, technical director. In block 3, for example, everything related to the maintenance that was being carried out before the power failure is practically completed, especially in the boiler area.
With respect to unit 4, work continues on the turbine (light repair) and on the boiler, the maintenance highlight, but the three routes (turbine, boiler and generator) are going well and should not have any problems, emphasized Bravo.
COMMUNITY WORK AND GOOD FRUITS
The Cuban President also went to the demarcation of the Historic Center People's Council. There he shared with community leader María Regla Eguizabal, and learned details of the transforming work that has taken place in the area, and everything that can be done with the help of the people.

Together with Armando Carranza Valladares, first secretary of the Party in the province, and Yolexis Rodríguez Armada, governor of Cienfuegos, they later visited the La Mar Artists' Workshop, which belongs to the same demarcation. There, the president learned about the work of this center, which provides a space for the creation of the artistic vanguard of the patio.
Minutes before, in front of the Custom Park, he greeted the people and one of his usual exchanges took place (later another one would be held in Cumanayagua, the other municipality visited).
Díaz-Canel urged to work with spirituality, and to print a social approach to actions. He stressed the importance of participation and popular control. According to him, it is gratifying to find people working, in their daily routines, despite the difficulties.
In addition, he praised the transformations that can be felt in the area of the historic center of Cienfuegos. "Keep taking care of your city, which is one of the most beautiful and charming in Cuba. We must take care of it at all times," he said, and thanked the neighbors for their warm welcome.
He then went to the agricultural production cooperative (CPA) Mártires de Barbados, of the people's council of Rancho Luna, also in the capital municipality. Here he learned about the planting of various crops in one of their lots, and the planting of 50 hectares of beans, the latter destined for the standard family basket of the people of Cienfuegos.
WITH HIS FEET ON THE GROUND IN CUMANAYAGUA
As part of the visit to the municipality of Cumanayagua, the President arrived at the Municipal Agroindustrial Citrus Company Arimao, and specifically to its covered cultivation houses. There are 24 production sheds, and two more seedbeds. The productions are destined for the local population, tourism and export, so necessary to revitalize the economic fabric of the country.
The tour continued at the Dairy Products Company Escambray, where the First Secretary of the PCC verified the productive chains made with micro, small and medium enterprises, which has made it possible to acquire raw materials to reestablish the production of yogurt and cheese.
"The need to reverse the country's current economic situation, strengthen unity and promote citizen participation are imperatives today." Díaz-Canel emphasized this in the summary of the visit.
AND TO WHAT HAS NOT YET BEEN DONE... THE CHEST!
The visit of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez once again reveals part of what, in accordance with his own indications, has been done at the municipal level to solve emergencies (in this case Trinidad and Fomento), and how much remains to be done -even if it can be done- and how material things do not always decide "the game."
In this, his appreciations and those of the team that accompanied him (Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party; Deivy Pérez Martín, first secretary in the province; Alexis Lorente Jiménez, governor...) can converge. The Félix Salabarría distribution, in the demarcation of the popular council La Purísima, became an eloquent sample. Actions in the medical office, the elementary school, the warehouse, a pharmacy, more than 300 houses and the improvement of the water supply (an old popular claim) are among the most recently executed. But if those in charge, actors of the environment and neighbors open their mouths like pigeons, waiting for the snack, the repair of roads or the remodeling of a recreational park, they will yawn waiting for the Greek calends.
Osnedy Valmaseda Medina, delegate of the district and president of the people's council, who agrees with the First Secretary of the Party's Central Committee on the importance of people's participation, knows it very well.
Reasonings aimed also at untying mental knots would favor the exchange in the base enterprise unit (UEB) Los Molinos, belonging to the Pork Enterprise, and dedicated to the breeding of pigs for sale to producers as preceba.
For this purpose, the entity has 28 sheds with capacity for about 12,000 animals, but the lack of feed has hit hard.
For this reason, the province now has only a little more than 3,300 breeders, out of the 7,200 that it once had, according to Rolando Pérez Sorí, the company's general manager.
Crossing arms is not the solution. Financing schemes with Tourism and Tabacuba companies seek to recover swine production to some extent. In fact, some results can be seen, but this implies that ideas and guidelines should not remain in the narrow framework of a visit or tour. Before moving on to Fomento (second municipality visited), Díaz-Canel would take the opportunity to offer information about the difficult energy situation that Cuba is still going through: an apex of social concern.
For this reason, he referred to the national effort in favor of photovoltaic parks, which -together with other alternatives aimed at taking advantage of renewable energy sources- should be reversing a panorama marked today by continuous and prolonged blackouts throughout the archipelago.
During his visit to Fomento, he appreciated the experiences in the Finca La Anguila Integral Productive Polygon.
During his talk with the user Yarién Negrín Cáceres, he revealed the feasibility of applying science to the land, diversifying production and contributing to municipal self-sufficiency.
It is not by chance that Díaz-Canel affirmed that "with a hundred producers like Negrín, the country would be a long way ahead."
Evidently, this producer has "landed" what the Cuban president reiterated, right here in Sancti Spiritus, in May 2023: "If we do not think as a municipality, we are not understanding where we have to go, nor what the potentialities are."
