As announced, as of yesterday, April 1, Cuban citizens must carry their valid passport to enter Cuba, thus annulling the provisions of March 2020, which allowed entry into the country with an expired passport, Ana Teresita González Fraga, general director of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Resident Abroad, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recalled in her account on X, reminded the press.
Last December, before the press, González Fraga informed that the consular offices were fully available and capable of providing services with the required speed, so that all Cubans traveling to the country could do so with their valid passport, as from April 1, 2025.
He pointed out that the Government decided that Cuban citizens residing in the national territory who were abroad could return to the country without the need to renew their passports, due to the situations generated by the covid-19 pandemic.
He emphasized that this was an exceptional and temporary measure, and was taken precisely to protect nationals in the midst of the pandemic.
