The tribute to Vladimir Ilich Lenin for the 155th anniversary of his birth, held on the hill dedicated to the revolutionary in the Havana municipality of Regla, was attended by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

101 years ago, the people of Regla, headed by its mayor Antonio Bosch Martínez, paid the first honors to Lenin outside the Soviet Union, while his funeral was being held in Moscow. Also, by means of a decree, it named him Great Citizen of the World, recalled the secretary general of the CTC in Havana, Alfredo Vázquez Pérez.

At that time, continued the story, the mayor went to the place of this act, then called Loma del Fortin. He planted an olive tree and the rest of the population observed two minutes of silence; at the same time, factories, transportation and commerce lined up in an unprecedented mobilization.

As a historical reason for hosting the International Workers' Day, Vázquez Pérez evoked its first celebration in Cuba, in 1890, just one year after the Second International agreed on the date.

Likewise, six entities of the municipality received a plaque for their labor results, as part of the emulative movements among the unions in the province.
