The National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) represents the noblest of our peasant traditions: sacrifice, dedication and loyalty to the principles of social justice and food sovereignty that we defend.
This was expressed by Yamila Sarduy Martinez, member of the ANAP National Bureau, during the national act of imposition of state decorations, prior to the beginning of the 13th Congress of the organization and the Day of the Cuban Peasantry.
From the hands of First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, two members of the peasant organization received the Honorary Title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba, Odalis Rosales Elías, president of the Agricultural Production Cooperative Juan José Verdecia, from Palma Soriano, in Santiago de Cuba, and Bernardo Tallo Guitian, peasant associated to the Credit and Services Cooperative Alberto Guevara, from Niquero, in Granma.
In addition, six other valuable comrades who have written extensive revolutionary and labor trajectories for more than 30 years in the organization, received the Order of May 17.
Thirty-nine cadres and associates were also awarded the Romárico Cordero Medal, which recognizes their work in the ranks of the ANAP for more than 20 uninterrupted years.
Likewise, the decision was made to recognize 150 cadres and associates throughout the country with the Antero Regalado distinction, and 159 with the José Ramírez Cruz Special Seal.
Sarduy Martínez said that it is an honor to honor those men and women who, with their laborious hands, their love for the land and their unwavering commitment to the Revolution, have contributed in an exceptional way to the agricultural development of our Homeland.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the Political Bureau, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee Roberto Morales Ojeda, and Secretary General of the Central Workers' Union of Cuba Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento; Commander of the Rebel Army José Ramón Machado Ventura, as well as President of the ANAP Félix Duarte Ortega and other leaders of political, governmental and mass organizations.
