On September 1st, more than 1,530,000 students of the different levels of general education will begin the 2025-2026 school year, informed Naima Trujillo Barreto, Minister of Education, in a press conference.
She emphasized that this school period has the particularity of initiating the curricular transformation in the last group of grades of the III Perfectioning of the Education System.
She said that the books will soon enter the country, but they will not be in all educational institutions before September 1st. However, this day "the curricular transformation is introduced and work continues with the other texts, because the updating of the text as a means of teaching is important, but it is not impossible to work without it, and for this purpose the educational levels prepared a set of methodological, didactic and pedagogical orientations".
Trujillo Barreto highlighted the fact that it has been possible to insert this curricular transformation into the National Education System in a period of three years, something that, given the complex economic circumstances, seemed difficult to achieve.
She commented that individualized attention will be provided to those children in vulnerable situations in the family environment, and from the school and the governments in each territory, actions are being taken to ensure the basic resources to those identified students, "because we cannot renounce to our principles of equity and justice".
As for the uniforms, the minister explained that there have been difficulties in the production, so that priority was given, at first, to the distribution for students who will start preschool, fifth and seventh grades, while the other levels of education will be attended later.
