The deep relationship of respect and collaboration between the newspapers Granma and Nhan Dan, the official organs of the Communist Parties of Cuba and Vietnam, respectively, is yet another example of the strong bond between the two nations, whose 65 years of diplomatic relations will be commemorated this coming December.
This was demonstrated during the working visit made by a delegation from the important Vietnamese media outlet to Cuba from October 16th to 2st1, with the aim of exchanging experiences with their counterparts and also participating in the First Granma-Rebelde Festival.
During the meeting, Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar, member of the Central Committee and editor-in-chief of Granma, highlighted the admiration that unites both peoples and thanked the Vietnamese brothers for organizing a campaign to donate financial resources to the island, in the context of a renewed blockade.
He also presented the results so far, on the Cuban side, of the cooperation between the two newspapers, including the creation of the special microsite Cuba and Vietnam: The Walk, which has already published more than 80 articles; journalistic and archival collaborations to address significant dates; and coverage commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
For his part, Dinh Song Linh, head of the Science and Environment Department at Nhan Dan, who led the delegation, outlined the characteristics of the media outlet he represents and its most recent organizational resolutions; and he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to present his media outlet's work at the Granma-Rebelde Festival, alongside other significant platforms from Cuba and around the world.
He also highlighted the potential of both newspapers to continue making practical progress on the four points derived from the meeting's agenda: the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the revitalization of content exchange, training in artificial intelligence and its implementation in production processes, and the creation of a special Cuba-Vietnam fund at the Granma Documentation and Archive Center, the largest in the Cuban press.
During their visit to the Granma newspaper's facilities, the Vietnamese colleagues were able to see the wealth of documents it holds on the struggle of the Vietnamese people for their liberation and the history of relations between the two countries to the present day. Among this heritage, the photographic collection on Ho Chi Minh stands out.
During their stay in Cuba, the delegation visited the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, Vietnamese companies established in the Mariel Development Zone, and rice-growing areas in the Pinar del Río municipality of Los Palacios, where cultivation is carried out with advice from the Asian nation, among other activities.
