The example you left for history lives on in children. Photo: Pastor Batista

There are those who call time implacable. It could be.The truth, however, is that it knows "who it messes with," who it exterminates, who it incinerates...

Not everyone, of course. There are human beings for whose stature time doesn't have enough space in its vaults.

An example was that child born like so many in a home of humble social origin, but a child who always defended the weakest against the abuse of those older than him, a child who studied in public schools, who later dropped out of the San Alejandro Academy due to family financial problems and alternated classes with tailoring.

Of his own free will, he joined the protests against the arbitrary actions of a regime rotten to the core, and, after being targeted by the repressive forces at just 21 years of age, he had to leave the country.

Although he returned, his revolutionary activities forced him into exile again, and that's how he ended up joining a worthy, truly revolutionary group. In an agonizing journey, he returned to his homeland aboard a yacht designed for a handful of tourists, which accommodated 82 expedition members…

He landed with Fidel, joined his guerrilla column, and remained by his side, Lord of the Vanguard, until the day of triumph, forever.

He lived every second without knowing that an entire town would search for him tirelessly after that sad day, the same town that mourned his physical disappearance, that made it a tradition to flood all the rivers, stretches of coastline, lakes, and reservoirs of the archipelago with flowers, year after year, heading toward eternity…

Then there is no time that can oppose him, cloud him, kneel, or incinerate him, because he ceased to be him, Camilo, to become time itself.
