In a meeting that reaffirms the historic ties of friendship between Cuba and Vietnam, forged by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and head of the Political-Ideological Work and Party Organ of the National Defense Council, received the delegation from the Scientific Council of the Central Organs of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), chaired by Vu Thanh Mai, deputy head of the Propaganda, Education and Mass Mobilization Commission of its Central Committee.
At the meeting, Morales Ojeda conveyed feelings of solidarity and condolences to the Vietnamese people and government for the victims of the recent floods in the central region of that country. He also thanked Vietnam for its solidarity in response to the damage caused in eastern Cuba by Hurricane Melissa.
This exchange of mutual support in difficult times underscores the strength of the bilateral relationship, he said.
The visit is part of the preparations for the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on December 2.
In addition, the agreements adopted during the visit to Cuba by Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the CPV, in September last year, and the subsequent visit to Vietnam by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in September this year, were recalled with satisfaction.
The dialogue also allowed for continuity in the topics addressed at the 6th Theoretical Seminar between the two parties, held this year in Havana, with the agreement to hold the next seminar after the respective congresses of both organizations.
Morales Ojeda highlighted the importance of Vietnam's experience in preparing for its 14th Congress, which will be held in January, a process that is similar to the preparations for the 9th Congress of the PCC, scheduled for April.
In addition, he thanked, on behalf of his Party, Government, and people, Vietnam's unwavering support for Cuba's struggle against the U.S. administration's blockade of the island and its stance against the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, support that is not limited to denunciation but is reflected in projects of mutual benefit.
For his part, Vu Thanh Mai conveyed warm greetings from the top leaders of the Vietnamese Party, government, and people.
During its visit, the delegation held meetings with the Economic-Productive and Social Sector Care departments of the Central Committee, and at the Ñico López Party University, which the Vietnamese leader described as very satisfactory.
