To the parliamentarians, parliaments, and inter-parliamentary organizations:
The members of the International Relations Committee of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba reject the new Executive Order of the President of the United States, which intensifies the economic war and whose purpose is to further exacerbate the illegal and immoral collective punishment of the Cuban people.
This measure once again attacks the sovereignty and self-determination of our country, while further internationalizing the blockade in an extreme manner by pressuring and threatening additional secondary sanctions against third parties to prevent them from conducting commercial financial operations with Cuba.
As if this genocidal policy against the Cuban people, imposed more than six decades ago, were not enough, recent statements by the occupant of the White House accentuate the belligerent escalation by threatening military aggression against Cuba.
Our people will continue to defend the political system that is sovereignly recognized in the Constitution, approved in a universal referendum by the vast majority of the Cuban people. It is an unquestionable decision to continue building a socialist society that strives to achieve the greatest possible social justice.
Cubans have just reaffirmed their support for independence, the socialist Revolution, and the Revolutionary Government with the "Signature for the Homeland" signed by more than six million people, 81% of those over 16 years of age.
Cuba has historically demonstrated its firm commitment to peace. We reaffirm the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed by the Heads of State and Government in Havana, on the occasion of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in January 2014.
Just a few hours ago, the firm step of more than five million men and women was felt as they filled the streets and squares during the celebration of International Workers' Day, committed to the defense of the Homeland and its sovereignty against the enemy that threatens and attacks it.
We, the Cuban members of parliament who represent the people, call upon parliamentarians around the world to raise their voices to halt the growing military threat and economic and energy blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
Those attending the recent International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Havana on May 2nd, agreed that our homeland has the right to live in peace, to defend itself, and to develop; and that solidarity with it cannot be blocked.
The Final Declaration of the Meeting commended Cuba's commitment to peace, agreed to denounce the escalation of aggression by the current U.S. administration, and pledged to increase resistance and support for Cuba in the centennial year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Long live peace! No to war!

The Homeland must be defended!

Homeland or death, Venceremos!
