CUMANAYAGUA, Cienfuegos.– The Aricumay State Commercial Company is a 100% Cuban-owned MSME with a single partner, the Arimao Citrus Company. Both institutions are located near each other in the municipality of Cumanayagua, Cienfuegos province.
Iscet Tellería Abreus, president of Aricumay, explained to Granma that the company is dedicated to the marketing of agricultural and industrial products, textiles, and household services, as well as supplies for farmers.
Its priority is the international market, although it also contributes to the domestic market, and it works with border sales to hotel chains and the Mariel Special Development Zone.
The success of its operations is largely due to its close ties with all local economic actors, whether state-owned or private, landholders, and producers (encompassing all existing forms of production).
The company identifies, based on their potential, farmers from the municipality of Cumanayagua itself, from other towns in Cienfuegos, and from neighboring provinces: especially those dedicated to the production of avocado, mamey, mango, loquat, ginger, garlic, beans, root vegetables, other vegetables, charcoal, and hot peppers (which is the core product), according to its president.
Aricumay maintains mutually beneficial agreements with 45 producers and industries in four provinces.
EXPORT AND SUPPORT
Currently, their exports are destined for England, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Canada.
Aricumay provides farmers affiliated with the organization with technology, fertilizers, compost, clothing, and footwear, acquired as part of their international sales in foreign currency.
Iscet Tellería emphasized that part of the foreign currency return is also reinvested in social programs for the residents of Cumanayagua. Furthermore, through partnerships with local industries, they market a range of basic household necessities.
These include a wide variety of toiletries, fruit pulps, jams, pasta, hams, pork, and smoked meats, sold at prices much more affordable than those typically found in the market.
These products are offered at various points of sale throughout the municipality, and they also participate in fairs in the region and in the city of Cienfuegos, the president stated.
They also supply hospitals in the province with products such as nectars, pulps, and jams.
Yolexis Abreus Abreus, an economic specialist, shared that the idea is to continue expanding this social reach, given the gradual development of a cooperative that is not even two years old, but which already shows clear signs of its expertise at the municipal level.
According to Yolexis, a key strength of Aricumay is the speed of payment to its affiliated producers, both in foreign currency and in local currency. This, she explained, is why these producers seek out their services and trust them.
Daymi Frómeta Ibáñez, a Quality Management specialist, emphasized that Aricumay wants to grow, and its workers spare no effort in this regard. Thus, to avoid wasting a single moment of a workday that often extends into the night, they acquired solar panel systems to achieve energy independence.
Continuing with this endeavor, resisting, creating and growing, will support any objective of this Society that demonstrates the local potential for marketing, exporting and giving back to the community and the municipality where it is located.
