Pinar del Río – All these projects committed to July 26th should contribute to providing better services to the population in areas such as health, education, culture, and sports.
This was stated by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, during a tour of this province to observe the activities being carried out to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.
The political leader emphasized the quality of the work being done and the importance of ensuring that everything accomplished is sustainable. "We must defend the rational use of resources," he stated.
The visit included the operating room of the Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital, which is undergoing renovations that are now in their final stages. There, the Secretary of Organization affirmed that everything we can do to improve healthcare infrastructure should never seem insufficient, and he acknowledged the dedication of healthcare personnel under extremely challenging circumstances.
"Despite the limitations, lives are saved here every day thanks to the work of our professionals," he said.
In that regard, he affirmed that the men and women of the Health sector, with the indicators achieved, made a significant contribution to Pinar del Río being chosen to host the main activities for National Rebellion Day.
He noted that all the rehabilitation work currently being done at the pediatric hospital and the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital, with the support of more than 50 state and non-state-owned enterprises, as well as in polyclinics, doctor's offices, and maternity homes, has been very well received by the population.
Accompanied by the highest authorities of Vueltabajo, Morales Ojeda also visited the monument to the Saíz Montes de Oca brothers, a work by sculptor Enrique Ávila, inaugurated in 1992 and undergoing its third restoration.
"This is a great gift, given what it represents as a symbol of the province," the party leader expressed after speaking with the staff in charge of restoring the site to its former glory.
The tour also included the José Jacinto Milanés Theater—also undergoing restoration—where the artistic gala for the 26th will take place, and the square that will host the main event commemorating the anniversary.
During these visits, the member of the Political Bureau inquired about the ongoing work and, above all, the remaining tasks to prepare both venues.
The party leader urged everyone to make the most of the remaining days, not only in preparation for the date but also so that, upon concluding the celebrations, the province will be "more beautiful."
Furthermore, he acknowledged the hard work of the people of Pinar del Río, their willingness to find solutions to problems, and the way in which the province has organized a work system to address the current complex situation.
