Conceived as a gift from the Cuban people to the world on the centennial of the Commander-in-Chief, the publishing project Fidel Castro Ruz, Selected Works, was established and formally presented on the third day of the 1st International Colloquium Fidel: Legacy and Future.
The presentation of the texts was attended by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who was symbolically presented with a copy of the collection.
It was explained at the event that this uniquely significant collection brings together the most important aspects of the thought and actions of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution.
According to René González Barrios, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, the result is a monumental work of 23 volumes that compile 690 documents of 33 different types, in 15,944 pages, with 12,210 footnotes that provide context for each reading.
Volume 23 is entirely dedicated to the correspondence between Fidel and Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, "a true treasure and a manual of revolutionary ethics," he noted.
"The Selected Works we present today are the result of a collective effort by a group of specialists convinced of the need to deliver to our people and the world, as a weapon of struggle, the ideas expressed by Fidel in different historical circumstances," González Barrios emphasized.
The publication was made possible thanks to the invaluable solidarity of the Communist Party of Vietnam and its sister nation, who undertook the printing of 3,000 copies of the work.
The National Political Publishing House "The Truth" of Vietnam completed the printing, stated its director and editor-in-chief, Vu Trong Lam. He said that the publication constitutes "a new expression of the firm commitment to preserve, strengthen, and project the enduring values ​​of traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba."
Also present at the presentation were members of the Political Bureau, Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party. Salvador Valdés Mesa, Vice President of the Republic; among other leaders of the Party and the Government.
