Army General Raúl Castro Ruz sent a letter of congratulations to officers, professors, cadets, students, and civilian staff of the University of Medical Sciences of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Ucimed-FAR) on the occasion of the institution's 45th anniversary.
The letter was released by the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces on its Facebook page, noting that the text was read by Division General Ramón E. Rodríguez Morfa, Chief of the FAR Logistics Directorate, during a ceremony held at the Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Military Hospital.
"As we commemorate the 45th anniversary of the founding of the University of Medical Sciences of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, I extend my warm congratulations for the results achieved over these years," stated the leader of the Revolution at the beginning of his message.
The Army General also highlighted the work carried out by the center over more than four decades—a period during which, he noted, "it has graduated, to a high standard, professionals who today ensure medical support for military units, military hospitals, and our people." Elsewhere in the letter, it was highlighted that: "The political and ideological caliber of the faculty and students, along with their proven technical and scientific expertise, constitute the finest tribute to those *mambí* and rebel doctors who, during our wars of independence, courageously applied their knowledge to safeguard the lives of the troops—and even those of the enemy."
The message concluded by acknowledging the institution's achievements and performance: "In these times, when preserving the unity and independence of the Homeland remains our top priority, please know that we take pride in your success in carrying out all tasks assigned by the country's top leadership and your own command."
The commendation was issued during the commemorative events marking the 45th anniversary of Ucimed-FAR, an institution established in 1981 dedicated to training health professionals for roles linked to national defense and service to the population.
According to the Cuban News Agency, the ceremony was presided over by Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera—a member of the Party Central Committee's Political Bureau, Hero of the Republic, and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR)—and Army Corps General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo, First Deputy Minister of the FAR and Chief of the General Staff.
During the ceremony, commemorative seals were presented, the Gynecology and Obstetrics and Toxicology specialties were awarded "Excellence" accreditation, and the title of Doctor Honoris Causa was conferred upon Doctors of Science José Hernán Salas and Eloy Andrés Frías.
