CAMAGÜEY.— The play, The Millionaire and the Suitcase, based on the novel by Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, and performed by the Teatro del Viento theatre company, will inaugurate the 15th National Theatre Festival on October 3, which has been hosted by the city for the past 30 years. The musical, theatrical and dance show entitled Sab, by the Folkloric Ballet of Camagüey, will join the play in tribute to Tula (novelist, poet and playwright), one of the most illustrious daughters of the country, in the bicentennial year of her birth. The 28 selected companies will occupy ten theatrical venues and the main squares and parks of the city, offering their art to an expert audience until October 11. Freddys Estenoz Núñez, Artistic Director of the festival, explained that the best and newest Cuban theatre will be on offer in Camagüey, after the rigorous and difficult task of curating from a selection of over eighty shows around the country.
