With a new image, the Art on La Rampa Cuban Cultural Fair will return this summer to its customary site at thePabellón Cuba from July 1 through September 18, coinciding with activities taking place during the Habanarte festival, reported event organizers during a press conference.
This 17th edition of the Fair will be dedicated to Fidel on his 90th birthday and 30 years of the Asociación Hermanos Saíz, event organizer alongside the Cuban Cultural Goods Fund (FCBC), with the participation of various cultural entities and institutions.
The Fair will be inaugurated with the photographic exposition Soldado de las ideas, featuring images of Fidel taken by two photographers from different generations: Liborio Noval and Ismael Francisco, in the Pabellón’s Túnel space at 2:30 p.m. Later the DVD Pedro y el lobo (Peter and the Wolf) by La Colmenita Children’s Theater Company will be presented in the facility’s Salón de Mayo, while the afternoon will round-off with a performance of La cucarachita Martina by the company on the Pabellón’s main stage.
Various products – ranging from textiles, footwear, jewelry, ceramics, and garden furniture – will be on sale across almost 100 stands located in the exposition complex from July to August.
Meanwhile this year will see the participation of entities including Egrem, ICAIC, the Provincial Book Center, institutions affiliated with the FCBC, Artex, Casa de las Américas, Uneac, Casa del Abanico and Génesis Galerías de Arte, among many others.
Art on La Rampa will also feature book and multi-media presentations, children’s shows, encounters with cultural figures, jazz and trova afternoons and popular music concerts.
This year the public will be able to enjoy performances by Polito Ibáñez, Zule Guerra, Eduardo Sandoval, Interactivo, Ernesto Blanco, Telmary, Luis Alberto Barbería and Silvio Alejandro, among others.
During the Fair a special event will be held to launch a new video-game developed by the ICAIC Animation Studios.
