The quality of Cuban design and its current exponents will be highlighted during the 11th edition of Design Week Mexico (DWM), October 3-27, with Cuba as the guest country of honor. The stated objective of the event is to promote the importance of this profession in socioeconomic development.

Close to 50 Cuban professionals will be represented in the activities organized to showcase the talent and originality of design on the island, in an effort supported by the Caguayo Foundation, the Havana City Historian’s Office, and the National Design Office.

Mexican architect Marco Coello, DWM cultural director, stated that it is very important to have Cuba present, to get in touch with the "high professional level and quality" of the country’s design.

The exhibition “Cuba: The uniqueness of the design” will feature objects, furniture, photographs, models, graphics, and interactive materials created by professionals from different generations. Likewise, to be presented are results of the “Vision and tradition” program, an exchange between designers from both nations with artisans from different communities.

Commercial platforms, such as Expo DW and Content Design, will emphasize the importance of creative economies, while works selected to participate in the unpublished contest will be on display, including those of five Cubans competing for the prize.
