BAYAMO, Granma.– Scheduled in this city, October 17-20, is the 26th edition of the Festival of Cubania, the province’s most important cultural event, which will feature all artistic expressions and celebrate the nation’s history, in its customary venues and, for the first time, online, with a program broadcast on social media.
Dedicated on this occasion to the centenaries of revolutionary heroine Celia Sánchez Manduley, and prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, the event will highlight the mark of women in Cuba’s national culture, in both the digital and physical presentations.
A program has been designed with conferences, book launches, exhibitions and theatrical performances, among other activities, which will be held with reduced audiences on hand, following protocols established to contain the COVID-19 epidemic and protect participants.
Lorianne Rodríguez, provincial director of Culture, told the press that among the celebration’s activities is an October 17 tour of a revolver used by Celia. The route will begin at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Museum, and conclude at the Bayamo Theater, where the ‘Crucible of the Cuban Nationality’ conference will be held.
