Caracas, Venezuela.— "How can a simple word hide in its bosom such terrible memories? How much terror, hatred, violence and death can be synthesized in a single word? This is what Admiral in Chief Carmen Meléndez, Mayor of Caracas, asks in the prologue of the book Guarimbas, los gestores del caos (Guarimbas, the managers of chaos), which is being presented these days at the 15th Caracas Book Fair.
The text, authored by Cuban writer and journalist Raúl Antonio Capote, was published by Fundarte. Fundación para la Cultura y las Artes and La Iguana Ediciones, both Venezuelan publishing houses.
In this land of the South of Our America, to say "guarimbas" is to remind the people of the sad massacres that deceived opponents have designed to lead the country to implosion, allowing the entry of the United States into the national territory.
This criminal form of violence is only one of the faces of the so-called unconventional war that the US government persistently carries out against the Bolivarian Homeland. It is, in all its facets, strategies to change systems through the sowing of hardships and discouragement within the peoples who have not bowed to Washington.
To such destabilization formulas and their final objectives -especially in Venezuela- refers the text of "this Cuban born with the Revolution", who has other works aimed at unraveling the threads of the White House on the continent.
According to the writer Miguel Angel Perez Pirela, "it is a book written from praxis. In which the journalist, the writer, the historian can be seen, but above all, the fact of having lived in the entrails of the monster can be seen. And that is, undoubtedly, an irreplaceable value".
In addition, in the "baptism" of Guarimbas..., he described it as a very current logbook on the causal chaos, created and thought for many years.
In this regard, Capote explained to the public attending the Caracas literary festival that the volume addresses the issue of "the war that has been waged against us (Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia...) for several years. An imperialist war that tries to defeat us".
Faced with this scenario that, in order to subdue it, seeks to invalidate the essence of the people, one of the most powerful weapons to fight it is, precisely, this Book Fair, hosted by the National Art Gallery and the Plaza de la Juventud, knowing that in the historical roots of each nation are the strengths to ensure the future.
