As a great revelry that calls us to exalt our roots and to reencounter the essences that define us as a nation, from today until October 20, the Festival of Cuban Identity is taking place; an invitation that, from Bayamo, celebrates that melting pot with which the face of the Cuban began to emerge.
Once again, squares, parks, cultural centers, schools, cinemas, theaters and communities will host the various proposals offered by this festival, which has become a cultural mix in which flows, harmoniously, that historical stream that reminds us that in this land the seed of freedom was fertilized and the patriotic anthem was sung for the first time.
Therefore, in these days in which art and scientific debate endorse the importance of preserving our sovereignty and identity, the Festival also celebrates the National Culture Day, as that event that makes us proud, not only every October 20, but every time we sing our anthem.
In one of the previous editions, Abel Prieto Jiménez would say about the Festival words that seem written for this 30th edition: "The event that takes place here is more important than ever. In this battle of ideas and values, which we continue to wage, Cuban Identity is essential. This city and province constitute, for historical reasons, the ideal place to exalt it".
