Behind every successful athlete, there exist many interconnected factors, with coaches carrying out one of the most important roles.

Despite the extraordinary challenge of training sports stars, coaches who ensure that their athletes give the top performance in the moment of truth receive greater recognition.

Using their extensive theoretical and practical knowledge, these coaches create meticulous training plans, which combined with their expertise and pep-talks must be effectively exploited by the athletes at the precise moment.

Cuba’s sporting movement recognizes both outstanding athletes and the trainers who helped them reach the top spot.

These coaches are included along with the country’s stellar athletes in the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation’s (INDER) resolution on permanent encouragement for World, Olympic, Pan American and Central American and Caribbean Games medal winners and champions.

Appearing in brackets next to the name of the trainer is that of the athlete they coached to sporting perfection.

Granma devotes a second moment of equally-deserved honor and glory to these coaches.
