Lisbán Correa was named Most Valuable Player for the 60th National Baseball Series’ regular season, during a press conference held to pay well-deserved tribute to former home run hitter Armando Capiró, on the occasion of his 73rd birthday, in recognition of his long history of producing victories with the Cuban national team and Havana’s.

Correa, slugger for the Industriales, was the season’s top home run hitter with 28, bringing in 82 runs and averaging .320 in a performance that won him a spot on the All-Star team. Baseball authorities at the event also reported that Camaguey’s right-hander Frank Madan and left-hander Yudiel Rodríguez (Las Tunas) took the top spots among pitchers, while Santiago’s Yunior Tur led relievers. Mayabeque’s Marlon Vega, also a pitcher, won the award for rookie of the year.

Also announced during the press conference were three all-star teams, including the offensive and defensive groups, and one all-star team.
