
Cuba’s teams monopolized the podium in the recently concluded continental chess tournament, organized virtually by the International University Sports Federation, which brought together chess players from 13 nations, including with our Carlos Daniel Albornoz as the central figure of the event, reported Jit.
The group identified as Cuba 1, including Albornoz, Jorge Roberto Elías and Melissa Rodríguez, won first place in the team competition, accumulating 47 points, 30 of which were the result of an excellent performance by Albornoz, who had previously won the men's individual tournament.
The silver went to Cuba 3, with total of 42 points, earned by Marlon Javier La Villa, Marcos Antonio Morales and Karla July Fernandez, while Cuba 2 (30 points) took the bronze medal thanks to the performances of Augusto Cesar Campos, Jorge Marcos Gomez and Leancy Fernandez.
