On three occasions yesterday, the notes of our glorious National Anthem resounded loudly at the Stade de France, the athletics venue of the Paris-2024 Paralympic Games. The first three Cuban gold medals in the event came thanks to the performances of Omara Durand, Robiel Yankiel Sol and Guillermo Varona.
Robiel opened Cuba's golden path with his second leap to Olympic glory. Shortly after, Omara imposed her class in the 400 meters flat, together with her guide Yuniol Kindelán, and, in the closing of the athletic day, Guillermo threw his javelin so far, as if it were from Cuba to Paris, a distance also of gold.
In each medal of our athletes is the greatness of the Cuban sports movement, which spares no effort in seeking and polishing the talent of each Cuban athlete. Today, Omara, Robiel and Guillermo exalt, with their greatness, this small Caribbean Island.
Cuban athletics at the Paralympic Games in Paris is leaving pleasant sensations. Our athletes arrived with the firm purpose of representing their country with dignity, and this challenge has been fulfilled with discipline, dedication and the noble desire to fill their nation with pride.
