Orestes Kindelán, the man who has taken the most balls out of Cuban stadiums, escorted by the most valuable players of the recently concluded 2nd Baseball World Cup5, Haila González and Briandy Molina, carried the National Flag that the president of Inder, Osvaldo Vento, deposited in the also home run hands of Alfredo Despaigne.
Thus, in a morning of homage to the world champions and commitment to the highest baseball level of the year, the Cuban baseball team that will participate in the Premier 12, starting next November 13, was flagged.
The Cuban national team will play in group B, in which it will face, in this order, the Dominican Republic on November 13, South Korea (14), Australia (15), Japan (17) and Taipei of China (18).
Despaigne, captain of the team, who has participated in four world classics and in the two editions of this tournament, said the team is likely to achieve a good result. The experienced baseball player, of outstanding presence in the Japanese Baseball League, said he believes that the performances of the two previous editions can be surpassed.
In 2015, in the first edition - in the same venue where it will now play the group stage, Taipei of China - Cuba finished in sixth place; and in the second, in South Korea, in 2019, in tenth.
