With the attendance of more than 90 entities, the 2nd International Sports Fair of Cuba was inaugurated on Monday at the Coliseum “Ciudad Deportiva”, an important commercial and exhibition exchange that aims to identify business opportunities for the Cuban Sports System.
This edition celebrates the 64th anniversary of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), and stands as a “space designed to continue strengthening strategic alliances with all the actors and economic factors of the country that have established relations with the Cuban Sports System over the years,” said Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of Inder.
It is also an opportunity to build a commercial bridge with foreign capital interested in investing in this sector, as well as to stimulate the domestic market in the commercialization of products and services.
The Coliseum has brought together 92 entities, 15 foreign and 77 national, of which 26 represent non-state forms of management, said Vento Montiller. Among the participating countries are Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Italy, China, Guatemala, France, Panama and Sierra Leone.
He also pointed out that 62% repeat their experience at the Fair, “proof of the loyalty, commitment and love for a sport of values, which is a right of the people, and it is satisfying to know the will of the participants to continue contributing to its development.”
The Fair, which will last until February 27 and will remain open to the public until March 2, will be the scenario for business rounds, presentations of products and services for sports, exchange with athletes and sports glories, among other activities.
The event was presided over by Inés María Chapman, deputy prime minister; Liván Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Party in Havana; Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of Inder; Roberto León Richards, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee; as well as the Sierra Leonean minister of sports, Augusta James-Teima, and the Guatemalan deputy minister of sports and recreation, Francisco José Aguilar Chang, among others.
