Caracas.— The District Attorney’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for three Venezuelan citizens involved in an plan - recently exposed by the government - to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, stated Luisa Ortega, attorney general. In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, Ortega stated that the District Attorneys office has issued an arrest warrant for Pedro Burelli, Die­go Arria and Ricardo Koesling, and is enlisting the help of Interpol in their detention, given that the individuals have fled the country. Ortega explained that the decision comes in the light of investigations into destabilization plans seeking to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and other officials. She added that for the moment there are a series of measures which will not be reported on as they a fall within the range of classified information, although they will be announced at some point. She also commented that a María Corina Machado, former Member of Parliament and Venezuelan citizen Gabriela Arellano, have been summoned to appear before the District Attorney on June 16 and 17 respectively, to testify as a witnesses before the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service. Ortega highlighted that destabilization plans formulated by right wing groups have been impeded due to the work of state intelligence organizations and the District Attorney’s office. Finally, she assured all the measures taken adhere to the Venezuelan Constitution and existing laws, and comply meticulously with the guarantees of due process.
