NEW YORK.— The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting September 18, with the objective of coming to agreement on a worldwide response to the Ebola outbreak in western Africa, according to U.S. ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, who currently presides the Council. The U.S. diplomat expressed her hope that the meeting would produce concrete commitments to confront the epidemic which has led to the deaths of more than 2,400 persons, among the 4,784 cases identified to date, according to AFP. She said the Council would discuss a coordinated international response, and ask members to provide assistance.
