
Hanoi, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina).— Cuban Vice President Lazara Mercedes Lopez concluded a working visit to Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, during which she met with Communist Party (CPV) General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. In the final stage of her working visit, Lopez met with the Communist Party secretary in Ho Chi Minh City, Le Than Haig, and the president of the Government's Executive Committee, Le Hong Quan. The Cuban vice president also visited the historic tunnels of Cu Chi, proof of the Vietnamese people's patriotic resistance against US occupation in the south, and the prestigious High-Technology Agricultural Center. The meeting between Lopez, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and its first secretary in Havana, and Pho Trong was marked by the confidence expressed by the latter in the update of Cuba's economic model. The CPV leader reaffirmed Vietnam's support for Cuba and favored sharing experiences and strengthening bilateral relations in all possible fields, as well as educating the young generations in the promotion of special ties. Lopez also met with her counterpart from Hanoi, Pham Quang Nghi, and the capital's executive chief, Nguyen The Thao, as well as with the vice president of the National Assembly, Tong Thi Phong, and the president of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Vietnam, Vu Xuan Hong.
