
BRASILIA, Brasil.- Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Minsiters arrived here July 16, to participate in a meeting between China’s head of state and Latin American and Caribbean leaders. The meeting will take place after the 6th Summit of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), which, in its final statement, emphasized the bloc’s support for the process of integration underway in Latin America and the Caribbean, recognizing its contribution to peace and sustainable development in the region. On Thursday, Dilma Rousseff and Xi Jinping will meet with Latin American and Caribbean leaders in Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the BRICS Summit took place under the banner of equality and mutual benefit, cooperation and common development. Subsequently a meeting of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) leadership quartet, including Cuba, will meet to discuss the progress of talks and regional cooperation with China.
