PANAMA.— After great anticipation built up over recent days, the 7th Summit of the Americas finally began on the evening of Friday, April 10, in Panama City - brining the 35 countries of the region together for the first time.
The inauguration took place in the ATLAPA Convention Center’s Ana¬yansi Theatre, where host President, Juan Carlos Varela, greeted each one of the heads of the participating delegations.
Among them was Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz, whose presence in Panama has aroused great interest from the various accredited press present in the country, all of whom are describing his participation in the Summit as historic.
