Our delegation has decided not to participate in the dialogue between civil society, social actors and governments scheduled to take place to today, April 11.
We have taken this decision after collectively reflecting on the situation created in the Civil Society Forum, forcing us to share with mercenaries in receipt of external financing in order to subvert the country’s social and political system.
The presence of individuals with links to terrorists as vile as Luis Posada Carriles and Félix Rodríguez Mendigutía, has been particularly offensive.
Since our arrival in Panama, we have repeatedly denounced, with documented evidence, the true identity of these alleged representatives of the Cuban people.
We reject the manipulation, by the press, of our consequent actions and the intentional omission of the testimonies we have presented. The mercenaries have received the official invitation to participate in the plenary session this afternoon.
Out of respect for the host president and other leaders, including President Obama, the delegation representing genuine Cuban civil society has chosen not to participate in the aforementioned encounter.
We also want to express our rejection of any document that may be presented which has not been the result of the debates which took place yesterday in the Citizen Participation and Democratic Governance disucssion in the Cristal and Bella Vista Halls.
