Tokyo.— The Japan-Cuba Friendship Association demanded U.S. President Barack Obama lift the blockade imposed on the Caribbean island and return the illegally occupied Guantánamo Naval base territory.
In a letter sent to U.S. President, the solidarity organization also urged for genuine normalization of relations between the two countries, reports PL.
The United States must fully lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade unilaterally imposed against Cuba, the group emphasized; also calling for compensation for damages caused the Cuban people by this policy, maintained for over 50 years.
Likewise, the document expressed that the illegally occupied Guantánamo Naval Base territory must be returned to Cuba, in accordance with the spirit of international law.
