Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and Republic of France regarding debt repayments.

With the purpose of implementing recommendations included in the previous agreement established with the Paris Club ad hoc group, a bilateral accord regarding Cuba’s repayment of debts to France was signed. The document will facilitate Cuba’s access to medium and long-term development financing.

• Economic-commercial agenda between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and Republic of France.

This document lays the foundation for the establishment of economic bilateral cooperation efforts over the medium and long term. Identified as priority areas are: Tourism, Health, Agriculture, Transport, Energy – in particular renewable – and Human Development. The document also proposes the creation of an inter-governmental commission responsible for handling cooperation initiatives.

• Statement of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment of the Republic of Cuba and the French Development Agency (AFD) regarding negotiations for the establishment and functioning of the AFD in Cuba.

The document establishes the bases to negotiate an agreement which aims to facilitate the work of the AFD in Cuba. The AFD is responsible for the implementation of the French government’s bilateral cooperation efforts.

• Statement of intent between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and Republic of France, regarding bilateral cooperation in the sphere of Tourism.

The two parties state their intention to stimulate development and strengthen cooperation efforts in the sphere of tourism by facilitating the flow of French visitors to the island and promoting investment.

• Statement of intent between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and Republic of France relating to cooperation in the railway sector.

The two parties state their intention to establish exchanges and cooperation efforts in the sphere of railway transportation, on matters such as railway management, organization of transport, signage, electrification, track renewal, repairs and maintenance to infrastructure damaged rolling stock, among others.

• Statement of intent between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of France regarding the expansion of Fair Trade.

The two countries state their intention to work toward identifying projects which take into consideration the differences between industrialized nations’ economies and those of underdeveloped countries.
