PARIS.—A press release issued this Monday, August 1, by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba and the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance projects on the island.
The press release noted that the agreement will facilitate the financing of initiatives in priority sectors such as renewable energy, water and sanitation, sustainable tourism, urban development, food and agriculture, and transport, as reported by Prensa Latina.
Following the signing of the agreement on Friday in Havana, the AFD plans to open an office in the Cuban capital before the end of this year.
The agreement provides continuity to a declaration of cooperation and a bilateral agreement on Cuban debt, signed in Paris last February during the visit of Cuban President Raúl Castro.
