Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of the Council of Ministers and minister of Economy and Planning, made an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, August 12-15, during which he held meetings with various high-level officials.
Cabrisas was welcomed by Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign policy adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader and head of Studies and Strategic Research of the Expediency Discernment Council, to whom he delivered a message from President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, addressed to the highest Iranian authorities. During the exchange, Velayati reiterated his admiration for the Cuban Revolution and recognized the resistance of the Cuban people, noting that this has enabled many victories and made the island the center of revolutionary hope in Latin America.
The Cuban minister was also received in audience by Iranian President Hassan Rohani, to whom he delivered a message from his Cuban counterpart. The meeting provided an opportunity to review bilateral relations in various fields and address regional and international issues of mutual interest.
In exchanges with other relevant authorities and local personalities, Vice President Cabrisas noted Cuba’s willingness to further strengthen the historic relations of friendship and cooperation with Iran. The two countries have just celebrated the 37th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations on August 8, 1979.
