Berta Zúñiga, daughter of the former coordinator of the Indigenous Peoples of Honduras Council (Copinh), Berta Cáceres, on September 9 demanded rapid action from the government regarding her mother's case.

"True justice would be dismantling the criminal structure that killed her," Zúñiga said in an interview with the Spanish daily El País, adding, "We doubt that we will ever be able to know who paid for this assassination."

Zúñiga is not impressed by the arrest of the sixth suspect in her mother's murder, since "only intermediaries have been detained on charges."

"There is not even any certainty that those detained are implicated," she added.

Public Ministry spokesperson Carlos Morazán reported that Elvin Rápalo Orellano had been arrested, calling him the "co-author" of Cáceres' murder.

Zúñiga believes that the case will not be solved because authorities will ensure impunity for the real intellectual authors.

"We have come up against a wall of secrecy, the habitual practice, and moreover we are being exposed to possible revenge attacks," she warned during an Amnesty International event.
