Nobody, not even Juan Guaidó and his most incendiary followers, dare call a failure the dialogues taking place in Norway between the Venezuelan Government and the opposition. It is obvious now that the disposition to dialogue of the right-wing goes through a sieve of hypocrisy and double standards.
The communiqué issued by the opposition on their Twitter account, signed by the “President’s Office,” does not adhere to any agreement unless Nicolás Maduro resigns to its constitutional position. This would not only violate the current electoral law but – in the head of the opposition- would leave the Homeland’s party headless in an electoral run.
Speaking in political terms, the right-wing has no one to race against Maduro, who has shown firmness and leadership in the face of Guaidó’s servile ways. The self-appointed president looked to legitimate his attempts with the military forces and his international allies, by repeatedly violating the Venezuelan and the international Law and by showing non-observance of the ethical norms.
The communiqué addresses a supposed “National Armed Force,” that does not exist nor it is legal; a force he has tried to build up by hiring mercenaries and paying traitors, two variants that have proven fruitless so far.
“Our path is the dialogue, the respect to the Constitution, to peace, democracy, and to the settlement of problems,” President Nicolás Maduro said. He also thanked the government of Norway and the governemntal delegation taking part in the dialogue table with the opposition from the Bolivarian country.
“I am proud of our delegation in Norway and I am proud we are now in a stage of constructive dialogue with the Venezuelan opposition and I know that the people and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) are supporting me,” he added.
A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway reads that, following the meetings in Oslo, both parties “have shown their will to move forward in the search of an agreed, constitutional solution for the country that includes political, economic and electoral matters.”
Venezuela´s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza has also taken to the social network Twitter to express his gratitude to the Norwegian government for the efforts made to host the dialogues.
The Deputy Minister for Communication, Tourism and Culture Jorge Rodríguez also said that the parties have shown disposition to seek solutions that encompasses political, economic and electoral matters to work towards peace and democracy.
