President Nicolas Maduro Moro, February 24 tweeted an invitation to his fellow citizens to spend time with their families and enjoy Venezuela’s annual carnivals, in peace and tranquility. "Happy Carnival Monday Venezuela! May you enjoy happiness, spend time with our children and young people. This is the beginning of a week of floats, parades, drums, dances and joy for the Venezuelan people. Nothing, no one can take away our peace and happiness," Maduro wrote.
With a great effort made to ensure that all logistics, recreational events, and security are in place, the Venezuelan people are ready to enjoy "happy and safe" carnivals.
The national government has deployed 184,212 men and women to provide security for safe 2020 Carnivals, according to the People's Power Minister for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Néstor Reverol, who announced the launching of the operation February 20, Venezuelan television reported.
Venezuelans traditionally enjoy the celebrations at beaches, rivers, pools, and in plazas and parks, with family and friends.
President Maduro added, "We will always defend the homeland that the liberators bequeathed to us" on the occasion of the anniversary of last year’s violent attack by right-wing sectors on the border with Colombia, in an attempt to force the entry of so-called "humanitarian aid," actually supplies for acts of terrorism.
"We remember the historic march of the Venezuelan people who with courage, our civic-military union, and permanent mobilization defeated the imperial pretensions of violating our sovereignty, and I reiterate my admiration for you," wrote the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on his Twitter account.
Likewise, the country’s Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza indicated, "On that February 23, with dignity and courage, we repelled the attempt at invasion and aggression by the governments of the United States, Colombia and others, under the guise of humanitarian concern. They could not defeat us a year ago, and never will be able to do so," he insisted.
