Solidarity and friendship are two of the basic premises that characterize the close relationship shared by the peoples and governments of Russia and Cuba, an exemplary model of international cooperation, so necessary in the current convulsive times, to contribute to the containment of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
Both are fundamental to our bilateral ties and to the much-needed promotion of this approach in efforts to mitigate the economic decline aggravated by the pandemic, as was reaffirmed during the meeting held by Cuba’s First Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz with Guennadi Ziuganov, president of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation’s Central Committee, and Ivan Mielnikov, first vice president of the State Duma.
During the warm, cordial meeting, held on the second day of a visit by the Cuban Leader to the Russian Federation, Cabrisas provided his hosts an update on the complex situation our country is facing, including not only the effects of the new coronavirus, but also the unprecedented tightening of the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.
