OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

After World War II, the struggle for human rights had a privileged place in the hegemonic speech of world capitalism.

The United States proclaimed itself the human rights supreme prosecutor, and the flags and demands that usually belonged to the international socialist movement were turned into weapons to use against them.

French philosopher Michel Foucaultwarned that there was the risk of reintroducing a dominant doctrine on the pretext of presenting a human rights theory or policy.  The double standards established by the United States in judging these rights is held by private managers who seek to fulfill the agenda of an ever-smaller, declining global class.  Therefore, the biggest human rights offender has become the denouncer of all those who oppose its interests.

The atomic bombs launched over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasakiin August 1945, the millions of Vietnamese civilians killed by napalm and Agent Orange, the city of Fallujah in Iraq, besieged and burned with white phosphorus, among others, are just some of the endless horrorscarved by the empire in the memory of humanity.

VIRUSES USED AS WEAPONS TO KILL

Since 1956, the US military has been performing experiments with diseases spread by mosquitoes.Fort Detrick,aUScenterfor biological research and chemical weapons development, hasmaintained for years an extended inventory on arthropods used as vectors in biological warfare, including colonies of mosquitoes infected with dengue, yellow fever, and malaria.

It is known that US scientist Dr. Charles Henry Calisher, who made researches in Cuba on the immunity of the population to the different strains of dengue virus in 1975, kept in contact with scientists from Fort Detrick.

The results of Calisher's researches were used by the CIA to introduce the disease in the Island.  Virus 1 was introduced in 1977 and Virus 2, in 1981. More than 344, 203 contracted the disease and 10, 312 were reported seriously or very seriously ill; 158 people died, most of them children.

The US military has vast and long experience in biological warfare, which includes cases as deplorable such as the manipulation of vibrion cholerae to affect human health and life.Cholera has been weaponized in a number of scenarios.

The Caribbean and the African continent have severely suffered the consequences of such warfare.

In 2001 the genetic code of the bubonic plague and smallpox was completely decoded. The genome of the microorganisms that cause these diseases can be modified by using genetic engineering methods nowadays, which in turn has been used for the manufacture of biological weaponry.

EXPERIMENTS ON HUMAN BEINGS

Recent news reveal that tens of thousands of people in the US and UK have unknowingly participated in chemical, bacteriological and drug experiments.  More than 20,000 citizens were victims of mustard gas, phosgene, sarin gas and other agents such as anthrax, Yersinia pestis, mescaline, lysergic acid, carried out byPorton Down's top-secret laboratory complex.

The Porton Down scientists developed up to 750 open field tests between 1946 and 1976, many of them in Nigeria, Bahamas, or Malaysia.Five of those tests were done at sea, using anthrax or the bubonic plague bacteria.

Between 1946 and 1948, US doctors infected Guatemalan citizens with venereal diseases such as syphilis and gonorrhea by direct inoculation, and without their consent, in a program supported and carried out by US government in Guatemala.  Most of those infected were convicts, psychiatric patients, prostitutes, and children.Between 1957 and 1964, Dr. Donald E. Cameron, hired by CIA to perform mental control experiments, subjected his patients to a therapy that exceeded 30 and 40 times the established norms.

Cameron induced his patients into a coma state for months, and played tapes with simple statements or repetitive noises over and over again.  The victims forgot how to speak, and even suffered severe amnesia.

To research on the possible effectsof chemical and biological attacks, the US Armed Forces and the CIA implemented a series of trials in several US cities in the 1950’s.One of these “studies”consisted in spreading whooping cough virus in Tampa Bay, which resulted in the outbreak of an epidemic thatkilled 12 people.

During the first phase of the US nuclear program and in the framework of a secret program to study the effect of radioactive elements, the government injected its human guinea pigs with highly toxic substances such as plutonium and uranium.

Thousands of examples of disrespect for the main human right, the right to life, can be found. The philosophy of capitalismcertainly antagonizes any commitment to health, welfare, and the very existence of man.

The governments of a country like the United States, capable of committing such cruel acts, have witnessed the death of over 250,000 citizens due to COVID-19. This government has no morals to judge others or to proclaim themselves as an example to followin the defense of human rights.
