With the same hatred directed for years against the Cuban people and its Revolution, the U.S. government is now calling for the destruction and death of an entire people.
Representatives of the anti-Cuban right wing are demanding that President Joe Biden take concrete action against Cuba, including the option of a “military intervention” to depose the "Communist regime."
The head of the "Estefan" mafia clan, Emilio Estefan, who like his ilk has made counterrevolutionary plots and campaigns a thriving business, demanded that Washington talk less and "take action."
The anti-Cuban Republican congresswoman, María Elvira Salazar, a staunch defender of the blockade and among promoters of Cuba’s inclusion on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, also addressed the government in similar terms, demanding "an intervention now."
Likewise, a group of U.S. legislators have been collecting signatures demanding that the White House fulfill this criminal objective.
In the meantime, the current U.S. administration announced on Thursday the imposition of new sanctions against Cuban officials and entities, for alleged "abuses against demonstrators," following the July 11 events on the island.
Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla rejected the "unfounded and slanderous sanctions by the U.S. government" against Revolutionary Armed Forces Minister, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, and the National Special Brigade. "He should apply the Global Magnitsky Act to himself for the acts of daily repression and police brutality that cost 1,021 lives in 2020," Rodríguez insisted.
These sanctions, which according to a statement by President Joe Biden are only the beginning, freeze any assets that those involved may have under U.S. jurisdiction, and prohibit persons in the United States from having any relations with them, which is irrelevant from a practical point of view, but does constitute a violation of international law, in addition to seeking negative media and psychological impact.
