The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, yesterday July 27, held a telephone conversation with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, an expression of the personal attention and high priority that leaders of both nations afford the close ties of friendship and cooperation that unite us.
The Vietnamese party leader recognized the efforts and measures the Cuban party has adopted to implement agreements reached during its 8th Congress and reiterated Vietnam's unwavering support of and solidarity with our country.
Comrade Díaz-Canel, for his part, addressed the current situation in Cuba, denouncing the opportunism of the U.S. government and its disinformation campaign intended to undermine the constitutional order here. He highlighted the special and exemplary relationship shared by the peoples, parties and governments of Cuba and Vietnam, guided by the enduring legacy of Fidel, Raul and Ho Chi Minh, and expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s unwavering solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.

In the current context marked by the COVID-19 battle, the two leaders agreed that the potential exists to continue expanding trade and strengthening bilateral collaboration in the health and biotechnology sectors, including Cuban vaccines, an undeniable example of the humanist vocation of both nations and evidence that a response to the call for cooperation and solidarity demanded by the times is possible.
