A campaign to raise funds for a trip to Cuba by a delegation from the Progressive International that was planning to travel to Havana to support free, universal access to COVID-19 vaccines, was disrupted by the Dutch bank ING.
Through a communiqué sent to Prensa Latina, the solidarity organization, which brings together leftist activists from around the world, denounced the multinational banking institution, with headquarters in the Netherlands, for joining the economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years.
The Progressive International was promoting an event on January 25 sponsored by the Union for Vaccine Internationalism, which was attended by scientists, ministers and public health officials.
Despite the disruption caused by the Dutch bank, the group insisted on forging ahead with its plans to hold the meeting in Havana.
